We recognize the importance of the health, well-being and integrity of all our employees.
The health and safety of our staff has the same priority as quality, productivity and performance. Our employees are highly trained, motivated and equipped to perform activities in the safest way possible while protecting the environment.
Microsphere’s facility is located in an idyllic site; a beautiful landscape on the border between Switzerland and Italy. The Tresa River acts as a natural frontier between the two countries; the presence of a pristine river represents to us a privilege but also a responsibility.
Therefore, Microsphere considers the impact of its activities on the environment seriously.
Gaseous emissions are fully treated before going into the atmosphere: solvent vapours are condensed and recovered; emitted gases are filtered by means of a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter and activated charcoal filters to protect the local environment.
Our proximity to the Tresa river reminds us of water’s importance in the ecosystem on a daily basis. We protect the Tresa River by pre-treating all the waste water generated by manufacturing and lab activities. The pre-treated waters are then fully treated by the Municipal Waste Water treatment plant. Our waste water system is authorized by the environmental protection agency of the local cantonal government.
Moreover, we are working to reduce our general consumption. In two years, we have reduced by one third our annual usage of potable water.
To minimize greenhouse gas emissions, Microsphere has installed solar panels on the roof of our facility.
Moreover, an ambitious Energy Saving Project was launched in 2022, combining investments, training, and changes on several manufacturing steps; these initiatives allowed us to reduce the consumption of both our main energy sources – electricity and oil – by more than 20%:
This reduction path was certified by ACT-SCHWEIZ, one of the two agencies authorized by the Swiss Confederation
